Course Goal
The course aims to facilitate knowledge exchange on both technical and programmatic aspects, with active involvement from GPEI partners to provide guidance. It targets countries experiencing a decline in Polio expertise due to a lack of recent outbreaks. The course will have a unified core curriculum with two regional versions (Africa and Asia/Middle East) tailored to the specific Polio status (endemic or outbreak-prone) of each region.
Key objectives include:
- Rebuilding Expertise: Addressing the loss of Polio expertise in affected countries.
- Learning from Experience: Enabling participants to exchange strategies and challenges encountered in Polio epidemic management.
- Developing Emergency Response Competencies: Equipping participants with the technical knowledge and adaptive skills to address current and future Polio threats, including expertise in resource mobilization, program management, and supply chain systems.
- Ensuring Sustainability: Providing a comprehensive curriculum that integrates lessons learned and explores innovative strategies to prevent Polio resurgence, including lessons on re-emergence during conflicts or natural disasters.
PVAC seeks to expand participants’ knowledge of vaccinology, providing them with a unique skill set to develop leadership in the field. It also offers a valuable opportunity to build sustainable professional relationships and collaborate on finding solutions to shared challenges.
